Faucet Repair & Installation in Sun City, AZ

A dripping faucet in Sun City is often less about the faucet and more about the hard water that has chewed up the cartridge inside it.

A faucet that drips, sticks or barely trickles is a small annoyance that wastes real water over a summer. In Sun City the cause is usually the same one behind half our calls: hard water, which grinds down cartridges and cakes aerators until the faucet cannot do its job.

We repair what is worth repairing and swap out what is worn past it, and on a new faucet install we always check the shutoff underneath, because in an original home those are as old as everything else.

Why faucets fail faster here

Because Sun City water runs hard, at 7 to 11 grains per gallon in EPCOR's testing, the mineral content that leaves white crust on your fixtures is also working inside them. It wears the rubber and ceramic parts in a cartridge, scales up the aerator until the stream splits and spits, and seizes the moving parts. A faucet that drips no matter how hard you turn it usually has a cartridge the water has worn out.

Sometimes the fix is a cartridge and a cleaned aerator; sometimes the faucet body itself is corroded and a repair is throwing good money after bad. We will tell you which, honestly.

Installing on old shutoffs

The part of a faucet swap that surprises people is under the sink. The angle stops feeding a Sun City faucet are frequently original, and an original stop that has not moved in twenty years often will not close, or closes and then weeps. Setting a shiny new faucet on a stop that will not shut off just moves the problem.

So a proper faucet install here includes checking, and often replacing, the shutoffs and supply lines, so the whole assembly holds. If a faucet job turns into wider bathroom or kitchen work, those are covered under our bathroom and kitchen pages.

Every faucet in the house

We handle the lot: kitchen and bar faucets, bathroom lavatory taps, tub and shower valves, laundry and utility faucets, and the outdoor hose bibs that take the worst of the sun and the first hard freeze on a rare cold night. Outdoor bibs in particular crack and drip after years in the desert weather.

If a tub or shower drips from behind the wall rather than at the spout, that is a valve inside the wall, which crosses into bathroom plumbing, and we will size up the whole job before quoting it.

Questions about faucet repair in Sun City

Why does my faucet drip even when it is off tight?

The cartridge inside has worn out, and hard water speeds that up. Turning harder just wears it faster. Replacing the cartridge, or the faucet if the body is corroded, is the real fix.

Can you just swap the faucet I bought?

Yes, and we will check the shutoffs and supply lines under the sink while we are there. In an original Sun City home those are often as old as the house and will not close, so replacing them is part of doing the swap right.

My outdoor hose bib drips and won't stop. Is that different?

Same idea, harder life. Outdoor bibs take full sun and the odd hard freeze, so they crack and the washers fail. We repair or replace them, and a frost resistant bib is worth it on the exposed side of the house.

The water pressure at one faucet is low. Why just there?

Usually a scaled aerator or a partly closed stop at that fixture. If it is low all over the house, that is a different, whole house issue we would look at separately.
